อุตสาหกรรมการผลิต - ดาว (Dow) ประกาศเดินเครื่องโรงงานผลิตโพลีอีเทอร์ โพลีออล แห่งใหม่ของภาคธุรกิจโพลียูริเทน ณ นิคมอุตสาหกรรมเอเซีย จังหวัดระยอง ที่ขับเคลื่อนด้วยเทคโนโลยีทันสมัย พร้อมเป็นศูนย์กลางการผลิตรองรับตลาดเอเชีย

นายเกลน ไรท์ ประธานด้านธุรกิจโพลียูริเทนของดาว กล่าวว่า “การขยายฐานการผลิตในครั้งนี้ดำเนินไปตามกลยุทธ์ทางธุรกิจระยะยาวของบริษัทฯ เพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของลูกค้า และการลงทุนในตลาดที่มีมูลค่าสูง ซึ่งเทคโนโลยีและการบริการของเรามีความโดดเด่น ทั้งนี้ เราให้ความสำคัญกับการรับฟังและสนองความต้องการของตลาดที่ปรับเปลี่ยนเร็ว ด้วยการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่มเพื่อช่วยให้ลูกค้าสามารถคว้าโอกาสเพื่อการเติบโตทางธุรกิจได้อีกด้วย”

ด้าน นายปีเตอร์ ไซค์ส ประธานบริษัท ดาว ประจำภาคพื้นเอเชียแปซิฟิก กล่าวว่า “เราทำงานอย่างหนักเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของตลาดที่มีการเติบโตและพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องในภาคพื้นเอเชียแปซิฟิก รวมถึงการมองหาโอกาสทางธุรกิจใหม่ๆ เพื่อขยายการเติบโตให้กับบริษัทฯ ซึ่งความสำเร็จของการเปิดโรงงานโพลีออลที่นิคมอุตสาหกรรมเอเซีย จังหวัดระยอง ในครั้งนี้ ไม่เพียงทำให้ฐานการผลิตแบบบูรณาการของเราสมบูรณ์ แต่ยังช่วยสร้างความแข็งแกร่งในการดำเนินธุรกิจของบริษัทฯ ในภาคพื้นเอเชียแปซิฟิก และที่สำคัญกว่านั้นก็คือการที่เราได้เติบโตไปพร้อมกับลูกค้า ผ่านการนำเสนอโซลูชั่นด้านนวัตกรรมที่มีให้แก่ลูกค้านั่นเอง”

โรงงานแห่งใหม่สามารถผลิตโพลีอีเทอร์ โพลีออล ที่มีคุณภาพสูงและมีระบบผลิตที่ไว้วางใจได้ เพื่อรองรับกลุ่มลูกค้าและกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมที่หลากหลายโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีการสังเคราะห์ตัวเร่งปฏิกิริยาแบบใหม่

นายจิรศักดิ์ สิงห์มณีชัย กรรมการผู้จัดการกลุ่มบริษัท ดาว ประเทศไทย เผยว่า “โรงงานโพลีออลแห่งใหม่นี้แสดงให้เห็นถึงความทุ่มเทของดาวที่มีต่อลูกค้าของเราในเอเชีย และความมุ่งมั่นต่อการยกระดับมาตรฐานการผลิตในประเทศไทย เราได้สร้างมาตรฐานใหม่ให้กับอุตสาหกรรมโดยการใช้เครื่องจักรและเทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัยระดับโลกในโรงงานนี้ ซึ่งสามารถลดการใช้พลังงาน และน้ำทิ้งจากการผลิตได้ถึง 50-70 เปอร์เซ็นต์อีกทั้งยังสามารถลดของเสียจากการผลิตได้ 100 เปอร์เซ็นต์อีกด้วย”

โรงงานโพลีออลแห่งใหม่นี้มีกำลังการผลิตสูงสุดถึง 200 กิโลตันต่อปี ซึ่งจะช่วยให้ดาวสามารถป้อนผลผลิตสู่ตลาดเอเชีย ที่มีการขยายตัวอย่างรวดเร็วจนเป็นตลาดที่ใหญ่ที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งของโลก และทำให้บริษัทฯ กลายเป็นหนึ่งในผู้ผลิตที่สำคัญของอุตสาหกรรมเทคโนโลยีโฟมสำหรับการทำเฟอร์นิเจอร์ ฟูก และเครื่องนอน รวมไปถึงตลาดเฉพาะทาง อาทิ วัสดุเคลือบผิวประสิทธิภาพสูง วัสดุประสาน วัสดุอุดรอยรั่วสำหรับอุตสาหกรรม และอีลาสโตเมอร์ เพื่อรองรับตลาดเพื่อการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน ระบบขนส่ง และภาคธุรกิจก่อสร้าง

โครงการก่อสร้างฐานการผลิตนี้เริ่มต้นขึ้นเมื่อปี 2549 โดยเริ่มจากการพัฒนาโรงงานผลิตอีเทนแครกเกอร์ และโพลีเอทิลีน หลังจากนั้นได้ขยายจนครอบคลุมถึงโรงงานที่มีความทันสมัยแห่งใหม่ล่าสุดนี้ โดยฐานการผลิตที่นิคมอุตสาหกรรมเอเซียนี้ รองรับความต้องการของลูกค้าในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ จีน และอินเดีย เป็นหลัก และเป็นหนึ่งในโครงการลงทุนด้านโพลีออลของดาวทั่วโลก เพื่อขยายการเติบโตในตลาดกลุ่มเป้าหมาย

โดยโรงงานโพลีออลแห่งแรกตั้งขึ้นที่เมืองฟรีพอร์ต รัฐเท็กซัส ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา เมื่อประมาณปลายปี 2557 ขณะที่ฐานการผลิตโพลีออลแห่งต่อไปอยู่ที่ประเทศซาอุดิอาระเบีย และจะเริ่มเดินเครื่องในปี 2559 ภายใต้โครงการของบริษัท ซาดาร่า ซึ่งเป็นการร่วมทุนระหว่างบริษัท ดาว และ บริษัท ซาอุดิ อารามโค่ และอีกแห่งหนึ่งที่บริเวณโรงงานของดาว ณ เมืองเทอเนอเซน ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์

Dow Polyurethanes, a business of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE : DOW), announced the successful start-up of a new state-of-the-art polyether polyols plant in Asia Industrial Estate, Rayong, Thailand. The company invited customers to the site for a celebration and facility tour to showcase the unique technologies and capabilities the plant provides to the industry.

“This expansion is directly aligned to our long-term strategy to address customer demands and invest in high-value markets where our technology and services are differentiated,” said Glenn Wright, business president for Dow’s Polyurethanes business. “We are committed to listening and responding to market dynamics with value-added products and services that benefit our customers and help them seize growth opportunities.”

Dow works closely with customers in the industrial, energy efficiency and consumer comfort industries to maximize opportunities that arise from shifting markets, sustainability trends, new regulations and energy dynamics.

“Given the pace of growth in Asia Pacific, Dow is constantly striving to meet evolving market needs while identifying new ways to accelerate our own growth,” said Peter Sykes, President of Dow Asia Pacific.  “The successful start up of this new Polyol production facility in Asia Industrial Estatenot only completes our site integration model, it further strengthens our presence in Asia Pacific and enables us to better serve our customers through providing competitive and innovative solutions to their needs.” added Sykes.

Utilizing proven DMC catalyst technology, the facility will deliver local, high quality, reliable supply of polyether polyols into a variety of consumer comfort and industrial applications. “This new polyols production facility truly demonstrates Dow’s commitment to our customers in Asia and to our manufacturing standards in Thailand. We are setting new performance standards by utilizing cutting-edge technologies in this new plant, which can reduce the overall footprint of our facility, including energy consumption and waste water generation by 50-70 percent, and eliminating 100 percent of solid waste,” said Jirasak Singmaneechai, Managing Director of Dow Thailand. 

The facility’s annual capacity of up to 200 kilotons will increase Dow’s participation in one of the largest and fastest-growing regions in the world. This solidifies Dow’s position as one of the key players in foam technology for furniture, mattresses and bedding, and in specialty markets like high-performing coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers serving infrastructure, transportation and construction markets.

Announced in 2006, the project began with cracker and polyethylene chain developments and has expanded to include the Company’s most recent advancements. The production site will largely serve customers in Southeast Asia, China and India. The plant is one in a recent series of global polyol investments by Dow to deliver growth in targeted markets, with the first coming on line in Freeport, Texas late last year, the next slated for start-up in 2016 as part of the Company’s Sadara joint venture with Saudi Aramco in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and another at the Company’s Terneuzen site in The Netherlands.
